Hamburg City Girl @123Paris

Hi Pearls,

Some mornings (in my case it's the MONDAY) we can't help but ask ourselves:

Does getting dressed for work ever get any easier?

Actually, make that: Does getting dressed for work ever get less boring?

Day after day, it's easy to fall into the routine of choosing for the same trousers, blouses, and shift dresses. But you shouldn't have to subject yourself to the same three-piece rotation. Why? Because of  the current trends lend themselves to the your office dress code, which means you no longer have to separate your closet between things you can wear to work and things reserved for the weekend.

Many of you who are following me for quite a reasonable time know that I love the French design of 1.2.3 Paris. This season is all about bright colours and I chose red for Winter as the perfect combination to black and white basics.

If the thought of wearing red brings you out in a hot flush, then start out by incorporating accessories into your look or opting for a deeper shade that feels less intrusive. But, if you're a fan then be brave and go for it from top to toe. Just remember to take your cue from the catwalk and embrace the different shades that red comes in to help break up and define your look.

My fav pieces of the look is the red cashmere sweater, because it's super cozy and the black boots with the silver details which enhance every business look, but they are still classy.

I wish you all a great work day!

Amelie

Not an ordinary Dirndl by Kinga Mathe

Hi Pearls,

Alles Liebe,

Amelie

Let it GLOW by Doris Wagner Cosmetics

 Hi Pearls,

We love! Alle Produkte findet ihr hier.

Alles Liebe,

Viktoria

Before, there was Champagne. Now, there is De Watère!

Hi Pearls,

Lots of love (and bubbles),

Mirjam & Viktoria

SS17 - Officegirls feat Spring 2017

Hi Pearls,

how to create a business outfit, which fits perfectly for spring but is still elegant and perfect for the next business trip?

I started with a printed skirt with different spring colours like rose, blue and white. In my opinion to mix at least two colours and not go for more than three is the key of a great work style.

The key piece is the beautiful rosy coat which is my fav part of the outfit. It enhances the look and on the same time it's perfect for a too wintery Spring (like we have atm).

Some more trends this Year?

  • Go for floral patterns, stripes and add ruffles to your wardrobe.
  • Yellow power: This season shades of red and blue for yellow. A yellow top or a stole can add zing to your otherwise boring outfit.
  • Ruffles trend doesn't seem to be dying anytime soon. They are fun, feminine and can take any outfit to a dramatic high. A green plain collar pleated blouse with ruffles on the sleeves can enhance your office look immediately. Slip on an off-shoulder white ruffle layered blouse with a pair of jeans or a tie neck ruffle top and a leather midi skirt for a night out to ramp up the cool-girl vibe.

PINK Blossom - spring fashion update

Hi Pearls,

Winter is finally GONE and everywhere the nature seems to wake up. And this change is not only a wake up call for the nature, it's also time to fresh up our mood and of course our wardrobe. If you ask me what trends you should follow this season ? Go for comfy looks and pieces who are perfect for the office and the weekend.

As always we prefer light colors for spring - rose, light blue or white. But how to combine the comfortable sneaker trend & a beautiful flower dress?

My recommendation is to combine it with a mini designer bag, cool sunglasses and a smile. To enhance my look I decided to go for a blue wild leather jacket from 1.2.3. Paris.

As this look is something which fits perfectly to a spring weekend, I will update you soon about my fav office spring looks. As I already pointed out -  fashion should always show your personality and to keep our standards high is much more important than to follow every seasonal trend.

Please share your thoughts, about this look.

xx, Amelie

The truth about: Business cards - Useless or still important

Hi Pearls,

I recognize that more and more people don’t have business cards. So I asked myself in a world of digitalisation is there no more need for business cards?

I talked to Colleagues & Friends to find out what they think about business cards and there are different reasons why people don’t use business cards.

1. Financial Reasons: They don’t want to spent money for business cards. It’s cheaper to send contact details via mail or messenger.

2. Ecological Reasons: There are also people who don’t want to waste paper for business cards. 3. Digitalisation: There is no “offline” communication between f.e. client and supplier and so they only need virtual business cards.

All of the reasons above are acceptable, but what are the reasons to keep the business card alive? I thought about my daily work life and all the moments a business card was valuable for me.

Business Meetings: This depends on your work position and industry, but especially when you work in a client related position and you are in business meetings more often than a view times a year a business card is necessary. The advantage is that you show your credibility and your (potential) client is keeping something physical from you.

Exhibitions: It doesn’t matter if you are exhibition staff or only a visitor. If you already have a prepared, printed business card, it’s much easier to hand over your contact details and this can be a big advantage for you.

Unexpected Reasons: During my career I had different unexpected reasons, where a business card was very helpful. One day my phone was broken and so I w as not able to send out my contact details immediately. The other day I met a potential client on a business lunch.

For me there are the three main Reasons why we can’t abandon the business card (even when it’s seems odd sometimes). But there is big difference between business cards & there are some recommendations you can use for your own:

I think what is pretty important is that we have a bridge between the physical and the digital business card. The best way to build this bridge is to print a QR Code on the physical business card. The advantage is that the other person just need to scan the QR Code with the smartphone and is able to import your contact details directly.

It’s also important to have a good & clean design what fit’s to your business. A huge selection of designs with an acceptable price value is f.e. available here.

Don’t underestimate the meaning of a business card & stop saving business cards for special occasions & start using them to spread your contact details & to exceed your network.

Best, Amelie

How to step out of your comfort zone?

Hi Pearls,

sometimes we need a change, an adventure or at least a new beginning. For me the decision to move to Hamburg was based on a great job opportunity. I worked very hard the last years, to get where I am now, but to leave Munich and my friends was not easy. But nothing worth having comes easy & in my case I needed to step out of my comfort zone to learn & grow my skills.

How can you step out of your comfort zone?

1. Stop, taking care about other opinions: Base your decision on your own dreams. One of the biggest issues that holds many of us back is our fear of what people think. After all, you don't want people to think you're weird or rude or creepy, do you? But wait - think about the most fascinating, magnetic people you've come across in your life. The thing is that they weren't the everybody's darling, agreeable people who are reliably pleasant to be around. They were the people who were crazy and charming. People who don't care about other opinions, who maybe do inappropriate things, or who made huge, slap-your-forehead mistakes. So get over your concerns for what people think of you. You're allowed to be less than perfect, and you may find that people like you more for it, because it makes you a more exciting person to be around.Do something you normally wouldn't do & be brave enough to strive for your own life goals.

2. Start taking risks. Your comfort zone is comfortable because it's where you know what to expect. To Risk sth can be scary because you might fail. You might lose something. But you might also gain something. In order to become comfortable with that uncertainty, you'll need to practice the following: Non-attachment. When you decide to do something, don't expect a particular result. Let go of your attachment to a certain outcome; instead, focus on the joy of doing whatever you're doing. Live in the moment.

3. Enjoy the unknown. When is the last time you felt excited about not knowing what was going to happen next? If you're deep in your comfort zone, it's probably been a while. Don't you miss it? Don't you miss the mixture of anticipation and anxiety that makes your heart flutter and stomach turn at the same time? Bring that feeling back into your life.

When you step out of your comfort zone, remind yourself that the unknown does not have to be scary and that you can face any situation life throws at you. You can grow as a person, become more confident, gain new experiences, and enrich your life.

Lots of Love,

Amelie

get rid of your stuff & make someone else happy

Hi Pearls,

about "the" dress and white dreams - mykonos part i

Hi Pearls,

When I was a little girl I travelled the first time to Greece with my parents . From this moment I fell in love with olives, feta cheese & the friendly people there. Unfortunately it took more than 12 years until I travelled there again.

I already talked about why and how I booked this journey (here). So I spent the last week on Mykonos. The island is very cute (little and simple) and for all who only know the white streets of Mykonos town - the rest of the island is completely brown. The barkeeper from the Pool bar told me that the last rain they had was in May and the weather is awesome every day, because it's most of the time very windy (take care of you hair).

I decided to write two posts about my Mykonos trip. I'm working on a travel video at the moment and I can't wait to hear you feedback (filmed by a dji drone and a go pro cam). All travel recommendations will be up together with the video within the next week.

This post is about "the dress" every girl fell in love with. It's a flower dress from Zara which was sold out in the first few days. The shooting location was right in the middle of the beautiful streets of Mykonos town. The place is magical and romantic and If it's worth the hype?..it is!

Take care. Love,

Amelie

P.S. My September adventure isn't over now - stay tuned for my upcoming trip to Bali.

About fav drinks and art @thedukegin

Hi Pearls,

what does your fav drink mean to you?

For me it's a way to relax, to keep calm and to celebrate Life with the people I love. For a long time I was looking for a drink which smells not to sweet but still delicious. With the gin hype 2 or 3 years ago I found my love for different styles of the classic gin tonic. And as a supporter of German start up's, especially when they are founded in Munich I prefer "THE DUKE gin".

THE DUKE gin were founded in 2009 with the passion to create an organic & distinctive gin, made in Munich. The gin is 45% alcohol by volume and is made from 100% organic ingredients. It is also listed by the EU as an organic product. I visited the "factory" just some weeks ago and I was impressed that they produce all by themself in a backyard just off Barer Straße in Munich-Maxvorstadt.

Because the taste is so special, they decided to design a limited edition together with three Munich artists (FY-FY.com). All three bottles are amazing & If I have to choose..my fav design would be the "Kupferedition".

The new special editions with the names "Kupferedition", "Magic Munich Edition" and " The Gin of life Edition " are available from now in their online shop.

There are only 2.000 per unit available. Choose your limited edition DUKE gin here.

Love, Amelie

P.S. My fav drink is the "Gin Basil Smash" as refresher for hot summer days

like bavarian princesses - dirndl Trends  of 2016

Hi Pearls,

as a citizen of the Bavarian capital Munich you start to think about the upcoming Oktoberfest (& of course the perfect dirndl) at least weeks before the official start. There is a huge selection of different styles available and as always the dress should be trendy but not boring. If you explore the fashion magazines & websites about the Dirndl Trends 2016 there is one trend everywhere - less is more - the colours are very light. No bright colours and the trend colours are taupe, silver, champagne, light rose, light blue...& much more traditional compared to the last years.

This year I started together with my munich squad (@viktoria.kristina & @miss_finny) to look out for the perfect bavarian dream drindl. And because we all love online shopping, our challenge was to find not a only something beautiful but also affordable online. However we finally solved the challenge with the WIRKES online store here.

First we were sceptical because we were not so sure about the quality standards, but when we finally opened the package we were more than happy - they look and feel gorgeous!

If you think about your perfect dress too - go for it ! With the code Wirkes&Pearls you save 5% for your next purchase.

wanderlust 2016 - how to find the perfect escape

Hi Pearls,

Strandurlaub? Hotel? Städtetrip? All inclusive? Ferienwohnung? Mit oder ohne Hund?

How a brand changed my mind -  brand management 2.0

Hi Pearls,

These days success grows and drops with the flexibility relating to economic conditions of a company and the changing behaviour of the society. The key to success is to be “up-to-date”. To analyse the potential customers on a regular base is essential for the development of a brand. Related to this changes it is important to reflect the preferences of the customers and brands have to keep an eye on that their target group for an authentic brand development. The company should also keep the development from the characteristic and the importance of social networks clearly in mind.

Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat- nowadays we love to get impressions and feelings from this kind of media. They show an individual, own touch of the brand. Especially retailers have to build a bridge between business and advertisement. There has to be a clear strategy between the company, the brand, the marketing and the individual customer approach. A brand has to be authentic- just as you have to be authentic- only true things are able to be successful on long term. Only with this kind of behaviour they can reach a constant market position. Everything that stands only on one foot will fall apart one day.

Just because of this reason companies should deal with marketing strategies intensely. It is important for the company to look at the value creation chain as a way to find out which marketing strategy lead them to the strongest market position.

Being Friends With Your Boss Without messing Up Your Professional & private Life

Hi Pearls & happy Monday,

When you work full-time, you spend most of your time around your boss & your colleagues. So it makes sense that you'd want a pleasant relationship with your manager. But a working relationship can be difficult to control because he or she will still be your manager no matter how close you two get. The consequences of befriending your boss where just about everyone crossed that working-relationship line into unprofessional territory may be hyped up for television, but the core elements are still very real. So I guess a few guidelines could help for mixing your professional and personal lives in a good way:

1. DO be inclusive. Cliques were awful in school and they're also in the workplace. This is especially true when your boss is involved. If you're always making joint lunch breaks or grabbing post-work drinks together, extend an invite to the rest of your team. Ask your colleagues to join and avoid bringing up inside jokes in front of other colleagues.

2. DON'T gossip about other colleagues. It's not fair to let your close relationship with your boss affect your colleagues relationships. Your boss shouldn't be using you as a mole to find out dirty info about your colleagues and report back. Make it a rule to discuss current company news only and if that doesn't work, try changing the subject whenever your manager starts fishing. This is also a good way to protect your private life from your boss.

The truth about - co-operative master degree & Life update

Hi Pearls,

I spent the whole summer weekend with my new love - MY MASTER THESIS.

Sounds better than it’s actually is. I'm in the last chapter of my student life (finally) and I'm working on my master thesis right now.  I decided to give you a better impression on what I think about a co-operative master study & how you can survive an adventure like this.

WHY HAVE I STARTED TO STUDY AND WORK ON THE SAME TIME?

I already passed my bachelor degree with a co-operative program and so I experienced the advantage of working & studying on the same time. The advantages are gaining experience, while earning money. If you want to get your master degree (at least in Germany) beside work, you need to plan +10k study fees. I started because I got a promotion from work. That means that my company took over all the fees. I think it was also a great chance to grow my skills while finishing my academic career with a master degree.

HOW CAN I COMBINE BOTH?

Honestly, it is very difficult. In my case I had to go to University every Wednesday & Friday evening and on Saturdays. So the last two years my weekend mostly consists on the Sunday & during exam periods there was no weekend at all. But this is no reason not to start with a master study, but you should ask yourself if you can live with that situation for a while. To combine both you need the support of your management & your colleagues and of course a very good time management. It’s all about setting priorities.

ethno summer and gucci dionysus

Hi Pearls,

It's Berlin Fashionweek this week & so it's time to show you my fav summer ethno outfit. I like to mix and match colors and brands. For my birthday the present from me to myself was a beautiful large Gucci Dionysus bag & after a few month all I can say is - It's the perfect bag to enhance every cute summer outfit.

We choose Cinque Terre as Shooting location. The Cinque Terre  is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It is in the Liguria region of Italy, to the west of the city of La Spezia, and comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Over the centuries, people have carefully built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea. Part of its charm is the lack of visible corporate development. Paths, trains and boats connect the villages, and cars cannot reach them from the outside.

XOXO,

Amelie

The truth about why the generation y is unhappy

Hi Pearls,

have you ever asked yourself what happiness means? Happiness is Reality - Expectations. Sounds simple, but the truth is, it's not & especially if you belong (like us) to the Generation Y, there is a long way ahead till happiness.

A few weeks ago we found this article  about "Why the Generation Y is unhappy" at one of our fav websites (http://waitbutwhy.com). We count us as members of this Generation & of course we were more than curious to find out more about about.

The article is about Lucy. Lucy is a GYPSY, that means Gen Y Protagonists & Special Yuppies.

In a nutshell: Lucy’s parents were born in the 50s—they’re Baby Boomers.  They were raised by Lucy’s grandparents, members of the G.I. Generation, or “the Greatest Generation,” who grew up during the Great Depression and fought in World War II, and were most definitely not GYPSYs.

With a smoother, more positive life experience than that of their own parents, Lucy’s parents raised Lucy with a sense of optimism and unbounded possibility (Generation Y kids think THEY ARE SPECIAL).  And they weren’t alone.  Baby Boomers all around the country and world told their Gen Y kids that they could be whatever they wanted to be, instilling the special protagonist identity deep within their psyches (GENERATIONS Y are AMBITIOUS AND DELUSIONAL)

This left GYPSYs feeling tremendously hopeful about their careers, to the point where their parents’ goals of a green lawn of secure prosperity didn’t really do it for them.  A GYPSY-worthy lawn has flowers.

Roadtrip dolce vita - Forte dei marmi and Portofino

Hi Pearls,

last week I spent amazing days with my munich blogger crew on a roadtrip trough Italy (@theblondemacaron, @viktoria.kristina, @miss_finny).

We drove from Munich to Forte dei Marmi in about 7 hours, where we stayed in a beautiful house. The advantage of a house instead of a hotel is:

  • More space (important for girls with a lot of clothes and shoes),
  • Save money (for shopping) and
  • A base to explore the cities around (and in our case the best view ever for breakfast).

From my perspective the best thing about Italy is always the food, especially everything including sea food. From the six days in total we spent 3 days at the beach and 3 days exploring the area. So here you go with my fav spots from last week holidays:

FORTE DEI MARMI

Forte is very well known for all the luxury shops and celebrities who visit this beautiful little sea village every year. It's very close to the long beach. If you want to relax at the beach, you need to reserve a little tent or at least a sun bed, because there is no public beach in this area. There are multiple opportunities in Forte but we discovered this two beach/sun bed providers as very good choices:

BEACH

Gilda: is a very old and famous Restaurant/Bar (with GREAT food) ; Tents (including 2 sunbeds & 2 chairs & towels ) from 50 Euro, here.

Bagno Belvedere: If you want to combine a city shopping trip and the beach - this is the place to be. Tents from 30 Euro, here.

FOOD

Forte is also a very cute village & it's worth a little sightseeing/shopping trip. If you love sea food in a unconstrained atmosphere, the street food at the Restaurant Pesce Baracca is so amazing, that we stopped twice to have lunch there. For all the sushi lovers out there, there is a cute sushi Restaurant called Kooka. You have to try the Lyn Green Roll, it's delicious & looks amazing.

SHOPPING

Shopping in Forte del Marmi is perfect for a huge budget.  You can find stores of all the famous luxury brands, like Gucci, LV, Dior ..But even if you don't want to spent thousands of euros, there are a lot of cute little italian stores with beautiful accessories, clothes and shoes. Very famous is the shoe designer Mauro Volponi, who is owning a store and a little outlet inside the city with handmade italian shoe design (so in love). We all found some cute things at a little store called Babol ( check their IG here). My fav piece was a self designed vintage levis hot pan. For the early birds there is a market (one of the best in this area with great cashmere products). It's every Wednesday and Sunday from 8 to 12am in the middle of the village.

PARTY

Forte is very well known for great summer parties. The most famous club  is the twiga beach club by Flavio Briatorre located directly at the beach & perfect to enjoy life by the fullest. Not that luxury, but a good & traditional club (since 1923) is the Cappannina di Franceschi club. Girls just wanna have fun.

THE BEST ADVICE

We had Mirjam by our side, who is half italian and knew already most of the great places around Forte. This is so helpful to discover places & restaurants you can't find in your travel guide. So ask locales for advice, they are all very helpful.

summer vibes feat @mimeetmoi

Hi Pearls,

Just a few weeks ago I met the team from mime et moi in Munich & their shoe innovation is (especially for #officegirls like us) amazing! The Innovation is a five-shoes-in-one concept. You can switch from flats to heels in only a few seconds. For the shoot I decided to go for the red & gold mime et moi with 10cm heels. They are designed in Germany & made in Spain with the highest quality standards.

I had a lot of fun while shooting this look, so I'm sure you will definitely have fun, too by watching the results.

And a little hint for all the EM football fans among you - I will go with black-red-gold!

Get your own dream heels & more Information about mime et moi  here.

Love,

Amelie

the truth about life goals & decisions

Hi Pearls,

why is it so complicated to take decisions? It's because we don't want to face the risk of the consequences. I have to admit it's much easier to continue the life you have, to go with the flow & to do what other people expect from you.

Please answer the next three questions for yourself:

What do I expect from myself regarding my life goals?

What should I change to get to the top?

Am I willing to give up something to achieve my life goals?

If you now think, that you are already in the right place, with the right job and surrounded with the right people. Congratulations! But If you recognize that there is room for improvement and If you want to succeed, than it’s the right time to think about change - Dreams don’t work unless you do.

A few weeks ago I started following Grant Cardone and I’m fascinated by the way he is motivating people. Grant was born in Louisiana and raised in a middle class family. He lost his father at the age of 10, leaving his mother to raise three boys on just a little bit of life insurance money. He said his mother didn't have the ability to create money resulting in a constant sense of financial insecurity for my family. In his very early teen years he told his mother he would do everything possible when he grew up to create enough wealth so that his family would never have to worry about money- and he did.
